Welcome to my website!
Principal Harpist with the Catskill and Schenectady Symphony Orchestras, in 2005 Karlinda received a glowing review for her soloist performance of both Debussy’s Danses Sacree et Profane and Ravel’s Introduction et Allegro with the Schenectady Symphony (both concertos were on the same concert).   Also a former Principal Harpist with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Karlinda has performed with many orchestras, including North Carolina Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, and Glimmerglass Opera Festival, and has appeared as a soloist with several upstate New York orchestras, performing concertos by Handel, Mozart, Debussy, Ravel, and Caplet. She has toured in Europe with the New York Harp Ensemble and in the U.S. with Jan Vinci as members of their flute and harp duo, Iridescence.   On the lighter side, Karlinda has performed with Michael W. Smith (2007 Christmas Show), Josh Groban (2007), Clay Aiken (2006, 2007), The Three Irish Tenors, Barry Manilow, Yes, Doc Severinsen, Roberta Peters and Gladys Knight and the Pips, and has played in the pit orchestra for such touring shows as Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby (Jan. ’06) and Camelot with Michael York (Feb. ’07).

After having lived several years in Cleveland and subsequently New York City, Karlinda returned to her upstate New York roots in 1999, and since then has been developing her career in the Capital Region as an active freelance harpist and private harp teacher. Her freelance work includes solo, chamber and orchestral work, as well as entertaining at private functions such as weddings and corporate events.  In addition to her freelance work, Karlinda has served as Personnel Manager for the Albany Symphony Orchestra and has taught elementary strings in public schools.  She is currently adjunct harp instructor at Hartwick College, SUNY College at Oneonta, and The College of Saint Rose and also teaches harp privately in Oneonta and throughout the Saratoga/Capital Region.

Karlinda loves playing chamber music, and her primary ensemble is her flute and harp duo, Iridescence:

Iridescence Flute & Harp Duo:
In 1982 Karlinda and flutist Jan Vinci (www.janvinci.com) discovered the joy of making flute and harp music together while still students at Cleveland Institute of Music (see bio below). They are currently available to perform full-length or partial recitals as part of your chamber music series, or as a special event for your organization.  For more information, please contact Jan or Karlinda.

In addition to Iridescence, Karlinda often appears with some other chamber music ensembles in the Capital Region:

Camerata Musicales:
As an adjunct faculty member at The College of Saint Rose (www.strose.edu), Karlinda periodically appears in the Music Department’s Faculty Recital Series entitled Camerata Musicales.   For information about upcoming concerts, please go to:

Musicians of Ma’alwyck:
Karlinda periodically appears with this specialized chamber group in their concert series.  In 2007 she was their guest soloist in Andre Caplet’s Conte Fantastique as part of a special Halloween concert, and in April 2009 she will appear again as a guest artist in a program of violin, cello and harp music.  For more information, please go to:

:  This chamber ensemble comprised of current and former Albany Symphony Orchestra members occasionally includes Karlinda in some of their performances, at venues as diverse as Hudson Opera House, Pruyn House, and various chamber music series, not to mention as part of the Albany Symphony’s arts-in-education program.  For more information about Eribeth, please contact violinist Elizabeth Silver.

Karlinda is the Principal Harpist with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and the Catskill Symphony Orchestra (in Oneonta, NY).  Her participation in each season’s concert series depends on the repertoire, so to find out which concerts will include harp (and, therefore, Karlinda!), please check each Symphony’s concert schedule, and then Karlinda’s Schedule.
